EfIP Jobs

Social Media Assistant

Economics for Inclusive Prosperity is looking for a social media assistant to promote the work of the network and its members online.

Background

Economics for Inclusive Prosperity (EfIP) is a network of academic economists committed to an inclusive economy and society. Members of the network are leading economists — including a Nobel laureate and John Bates Clark Medal winners — in a wide variety of subfields.

The network produces policy briefs, a podcast, and events to highlight members’ ideas and research, promote inclusive prosperity within the field of economics, and ultimately steer policy toward more inclusive ends.

Responsibilities

The social media assistant will work alongside EfIP staff to manage the network’s social media presence: using the network’s output to create social-media-friendly content and promote the work of the network and its members.

Specific duties include:

  1. Launching an EfIP-specific social media manager program (eg. SproutSocial, Zoho Social) to manage and track our social content
  2. Creating short video clips from the video versions of EfIP podcast episodes to post on YouTube
  3. Creating short promos/posts for upcoming shows using images and existing video
  4. Monitoring the social media of members of the network and sharing their relevant posts about papers, events, etc.
  5. Creating other posts featuring network output and members as opportunities arise
  6. Creating short text pieces based on the transcripts of podcast episodes

The time commitment would be 5 hours per week during the school year and 10 hours per week during the summer. The position will last until the end of summer 2026 (with the possibility of extension to be determined at that time).

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of social media best practices — including some experience with social media management, publicity, and/or marketing. They will also have the technical skills to run online accounts and edit images and videos.

The candidate should have some exposure to academic economics, but a degree in economics is not required.

EfIP is looking for someone who is enthusiastic about the goals of the network: using economics to create a more inclusive economy and society.
